Day 1: Drew the first Tulip then erased it - (it was in the wrong spot) - Redrew it and started on the second.

Day 2: Drew both Tulips; different curls, shaded areas and leaves. Ready to paint.

Day 3: Painted the top one third background (grass) - used just one shade of green(thalo green)  but used the brush
sideways (quick strokes) to give it the grass look.
Will give it a rest for 5 days.

Day 4: First painted the pink & white on the curls; then the dark shades; the middle Red; and then the bottom 2 pink petals and
the large shade to the right. Also moved the red tulip's stem right

    Day 5: Fixed the edges of the bottom pink petals and added                     Day 6: Painted the yellow and brown/black of the middle of the Tulip;
                 definition to the bigger red petals.                                                                reworked the outside petals for a better look.

Day 6: Painted the middle 2/3rd background; the Red Tulip stem, leaves around the Red Tulip and some shadows next to the top of the Yellow Tulip.

tulips10.jpg
   Day 7: Brought the red background down on the right side; added shade under the leaf (on the left - missed while drawing);
did the big leaf next to the Yellow Tulip; the small leaves on the top, the shaded areas on the left and right and top of the
Yellow Tulip - this makes it ready to be painted next - will allow an extra 2/3 days for the paints to dry to avoid the colors
running into yellow.

Day 8: Painted the rest of the leaves surrounding the Red Tulip and the shaded areas.

tulips12.jpg
Day 9: Worked on the Yellow Tulip; outside edges and black (yellow ocher shaded areas) - the yellow doesn't have the
opacity of
other colors - so black/green/red colors (incidentally splattered in this area while painting the top parts of the
 canvas) tend to show through the yellow paint - may have to retouch the yellow two or three times
.

Day 10: The edges didn't have enough separation from the middle -  I darkened the outside (with Yellow and
Yellow-ocher) and added Yellow and Orange to the inside to get a better effect.
Finished the middle with Black
and dark Brown; and the pollen stuff with yellow mixed with green.

Day 11: Did the bottom petals; stem, leaves, shaded areas. Need to do the rest of the pink/brown background and add some
red to the stem, the far leaf and the bottom of the Yellow Tulip; and shape the bottom-most leaf.

Day 12: Re-touched the Tulips, the bottom leaf and all the background. Finished March 23, 2012
