Cut into three panels
I finally found a picture that I could do a Triptych on - Monika's been wanting one. I will order the canvasses - 3 of 16 by 36 -
that will give me a 48 by 36 altogether (my most common size now-a-days 36 by 48)
May 15 - Drew a grid on all three panels - only half the grid on the side panels - drew the
horizon line and the white and yellow part of the sun (hard to see the detail in this picture)
May 17 - Drew the whole picture.
May 18 - Painted the top background (including the sides of the panels). Used remaining orange,
black, yellow colors to define the islands. Will probably add more red around the sun area - later.
May 19 - Painted the sun (white) and the Islands (including on the sides of the panels) used
red, blue, green, orange and brown colors.
May 20 - Painted the yellow and red around the sun - struggled with the results and finally
narrowed the white and yellow parts.
May 23 - Painted the top part of the sea - darker
May 23 - Painted the middle part of the sea - a little less dark - plan to retouch all the
water area - fanning in darker blue/brown colors.
May 24 - Painted the bottom part of the sea also and the sides of the panels (tricky to paint
the bottom) - put several nails on top and hung the panels while holding them off the easel with
one hand and painting with the other. Blended the waves - a little bit. Can't paint for 2 or 3
days - eye surgery/procedure tomorrow. So wanted to get this part done. Will figure out how to
darken all the areas and then add the sun reflections on the sea. Hope to finish this month.
Dec 6 ... painted a few trees/bushes on all three panels using black, blue and gereen color. signed it

Had three eye surgeries between May and June and couldn't paint (fluid in the eye creating pressure)
better now, since September (new glasses) - so, decided to try now and the eye seems to work OK.
