I drew a grid on the canvas and then drew the picture.   I decided to make the flowers larger and closer and to not draw any background leaves/rocks etc. - this has two flowers done and the third half done.

Finished the drawing.

Did a multi-color wash - brownish for the lower background and greenish for the upper; a little violet for the flowers.

I am painting the background in different colors - sort of - following very loosely - the pattern of the background in the picture. Top half is nearly done and the bottom right corner is also done. Next step - do the two flowers; then do the bottom half background; then do the third flower.  It can be done in three sessions but I need to make sure the background paint doesn't mix with the flower color and runs into it or vice-versa.  So, need to check the dryness of the paints with a little trial before doing a whole flower. By design and for efficiency - the background paints are a little watery at the flower outlines - too dry a paint is hard to maneuver, so I thin the paint a little bit more when I paint the outlines of the petals. Hopefully, it all looks good when finished - if not?

Finished one flower (petals) and added white paint to highlight the center.

Re-worked the first flower (highlights) and almost finished the second flower. The flowers are taking a long time to do (or I am not able to put longer sessions into painting). But, it still needs two or three more sessions to finish.

Finished the second flower and finished all the background. The bottom background was blended to give it a different look.

Finished the middle parts of the two flowers and now must wait a couple days for the bottom backgropund to dry a little, before working on the third flower.

Painted the last flower and retouched the other two (middle part) - will let it dry
and add some more yellow to the bottom flower
.
