Alpine Sunflower

	Alpine Sunflower   4' by 3' (122 cm by 91.5 cm)       Painted January 2012
	Alpine Sunflower, Mosquito Pass, Colorado
	Day -1:  Got the canvas selected - 36" by 48" - laid it on the ping-pong table to draw 10 by 8 squares.  Cropped and Re-sized the picture to 1233 by 951 pixels and loaded on the Viewsonic viewer. Put the clear sheet (6.5 by 4.8 )on top of the viewer and taped it. The preliminary work is done. Change for 2012 - this time while drawing, I will use colored pencils (for the first time). The grid will still be done using black pencil.
	Day 2:  Drew the picture using a yellow pencil - doesn't work - the lines are too faint to see well; therefore the pencil approach is not workable.  Did it anyway and then outlined the flower with a regular pencil, to define all the external - Green area and  separate it from the the internal - Yellow area.
Day 3:  Painted the top 1/3rd of the green background.  Will let it dry for 3 days before working on the flower petals (top 1/3rd).
	Day 4:  Painted the top 1/3rd flower petals - the green wasn't quite dry in spots - not sure what to do about that.
	Day 5: Painted the middle 1/3rd of the green and green/black background and some of the bottom area too. Will consider doing all of the background next time and then finish with the flower in one or two day session else, wait and let the middle green dry and then work on the middle flower followed by the bottom back ground followed by the bottom flower.
	Day 6: Painted the whole flower - had a good rhythm going, so went ahead and finished it all. Also darkened the brown areas.
	Day 7: Painted the bottom right background and finished the middle of the flower. Need to retouch a little bit of yellow and green (bleeding into each other) and then sign it.
	Day 8: Finished and signed Feb 2, 2012
